God still sends me to visit different churches but for different reasons now. This time He is showing me the opportunities with His children. God’s children need a recharge!
I remember when I first started on this journey God sent me to a well known mega church in Dallas and I wasn’t sure why (this is usually the case when God sends me somewhere but He quickly reveals the purpose and it isn’t always what I thought it was). When the worship service started I quickly became uncomfortable. You see…this mega church was more along the lines of Assembly of God than the Southern Baptist I grew up with so I wasn’t used to the jumping and raised hands.
God quickly laid a calming on my soul and said “I don’t care how they worship Me as long as they worship Me.” I still remember those words as if it was yesterday. It was then that I learned what a church filled with the Holy Spirit looked and felt like. There was no looking back now!
Fast forward to present day and God is showing me a different Church. One where His children are alive (born again Christians) but they are not “kicking”. They go through the motions of church saying “ok I’m supposed to do this, this, and this. Ok got that done Amen”. They treat church…sometimes even Christianity itself…as a “job” or an “obligation”. Worship services filled with voices but not hearts. Pastors receiving their messages in the mail and not directly from God.
It is time for a revival in God’s Church. Time to go back to the Old Truth that God is worthy to be praised. This old truth has never changed we, as Christians, have just lost sight of it. Sure you say it but do you feel it. I mean feel it deep down in your soul where you can’t help but jump up and down and sing His praises. Feel it where you may have felt down going into church but 10 minutes in and you can’t get the smile off your face or the joy out of your heart. Now that’s alive and kicking!
Take time to read your Bible and visit with God. Rediscover your relationship with Him. Remember what it’s like to praise his Holy Name and go out and recharge God’s Church!
